Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 28 year old female who is not obese nor athletic. When I was in junior high I was in a car wreck and diagnosed with TMJ by my orthodontist. I used special retainers to correct the joint and pain. When I was in high school I lifted weights. On a trip to my family doctor she told me I had tears in my knees, but didn't elaborate. She also told me I had joints of a 60 year old. My knees grind and click. They are painful and have recently began to feel worse even though I just lost 25 pounds. I later enlisted in the Army and found out I had severe shin splints; so severe they did x-rays to see if they were stress fractures. My shoulders sublux very easily and I did a little physical therapy years ago for that, but they still bother me. My thumbs slide in and out of the sockets clicking as they go. The tops of my fingers are "double jointed" as well. Nobody in my family (that my mom or I am aware of) has any type of joint disease. I was taking Osteo Biflex and drinking a joint juice(for about 2.5 months), but I couldn't tell a difference. I have tried using a knee brace, but it rubs the back of my leg raw after an hour. Does this sound like something specific or is there anything I can do?
