Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I think there is a possibility that those tar like stools happened because there was some bleeding in the upper gi tract. This may be because of the low platelet counts. Yes I have read that they are rising, but they are not normal yet.

So I would suggest that you test for stool for occult blood. If this is positive, there is a possibility that you are bleeding in the upper gi tract, and may need to be managed in the hospital.

If this is negative, relax. and just have plenty of fluids.

Do note that black tarry stools may be due to the old blood. Malena may occur for 5-10 days after the actual bleeding has happened. SO maybe the bleeding has already stopped

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.
