Suggest Remedies For A Bruise On The Shin Post An Injury
Yes, thank you. Ok, so a couple of days ago I had hit my shin on a metal bar pretty hard because I wasn t paying attention to where I was walking. Over the days the bruise looked like a normal bruise, & yesterday it looked pretty yellow & today it s kind of fading but you can still see it. But almost every morning I wake up with so much pain in my shin. & right now I m having pain also, so I was just wondering if I should go into the emergency room or just put some ice on it & it ll go away on its own.
It is normal for the pain on the shin to be present a couple of weeks after injuring it by hitting a hard object. The pain may take a couple of weeks in some cases to completely settle. By what you explain, the bruise seems to be fading away normally as well. I would advise you to just use Ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours after food and local cold compresses a few times a day (do not use ice directly on the skin).
If you are not getting better in a few days to one week or you notice any worsening (swelling, redness, pain, etc), please see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
