Suggest Remedies For A Foul Smelling Discharge From An Old Incision Post Surgery

my mother had brest cancer removal recently and has diabetes that is not treated. And now an old incision she had from a tumor removal bellow her belly button about 10+ years ago has re-opned. And she has a fowl fish smell and said she saw puss coming from it. What would you recommend my mother to ask her doctor besides a check up?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an infection of the incision.

I suggest taking a cycle of antibiotics to treat the infection.

I also suggest local treatment of the incision by a nurse.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen in case of pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
