Suggest Remedies For A Huge Lump On Ankle Post An Injury

Hello I was playing soccer when I was going to shoot the ball into the goal instead of hitting the ball someone put their foot out and hit the bottom of their cleats with my ankle. I continued for another 30min. Hours after the impact I got a huge lump on the area. Although there is not a bruise. I do not know what exactly this is. Can I find out what it is? How long it will last? And how to treat it

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think it is a hematoma due to the injury.
It is caused by blood accumulation in the tissues or under the skin due to injury.
You may need to use ice over it.
Use antinflamatory drugs such advil or acetaminophen for pain.
It may need a week or two to get better.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
