Suggest Remedies For A Painful Lump At The Anticubital Site After Blood Donation

My husband attempted to donate blood today, they only got ~ 60ml due to pain, bruising. Now his anticubital site has a lump the size of an egg, if a little larger. It is painful, not too discolored. Anything to be concerned about? Just let it resolve on its own? Ice? Elevatin?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms of your husband seem to be related to the injection.

I suggest to use cold compresses in the area of the injection and use Ibuprofen for the pain.

I also recommend the elevation of the arm.

The symptoms will go away on its own in a few days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
