Suggest Remedies For A Thumb Sprain

I have like a sprain in my thumb,now lasting about 3 weeks.Its not real bad but lingering.When I go to pick a child up under their arms and my thumb is spread from my fingers can t do it very painful.What can I do to make this better? YYYY@YYYY

Hi,

You can spray diclofenac containing solution over sprain part to get relief from pain and for soothing. I suggest you take a five day course of anti-inflammatory drugs like brufen or chymotrypsin for seven days.

Don't strain the affected thumb more by applying splint to that. Ice wrapped cloth also can be applied.

You can Consult a nearby orthopedic surgeon for detailed evaluation. You can upload a photo of the x-ray to comment further.
