Suggest Remedies For Accidental Contact Of Benadryl Cream With Eye

I got some Benadryl Extra Strength Cream in my eye. I washed my hands so it must have been a trace amount. The outer corner of my eye had something in it so I got it out. Then my eye started burning slightly. I finally looked at it and there s a large red spot on the white of my eye near the outer corner. The only thing I can find on the packaging and online is to : Avoid Contact with Eyes. Not what to do if some does get in ur eye. I would think to flush with water but since that could make it worse for all I know, I thought I d try to get an answer from a doctor.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The red spot is normal irritation from the entering of the cream in contact with the eye.

If it keep feeling a burning sensation, then, should see an eye specialist as you might need eye drops.

Meanwhile, can take OTC eye drops containing hialurinic acid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
