Suggest Remedies For An Insect Bite

Hi, I have just returned from the Bahamas back to Florida and while I was there two days ago I was bitten by a horsefly. The bite looks as I would expect, a round slightly swollen circle about the size of a nickel. However, I started having a sore throat and runny nose last night, along with slight nausea. I just want to know if this could be related, or if i may have just picked up a cold.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to an insect bite. Most people stung or bitten by insects suffer pain, redness, itching and minor swelling in the area around the bite or sting. This is a normal reaction and will get better within hours or days. I suggest to use Cetirizine 10 mg and use Calamine lotion for local application.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
