Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 year old son just showed us a bad rash/blistering above his penis but in the pubic area. He stated it started this past Wednesday and it has increasingly gotten worse. Never seen a rash like this before. Was at a hockey camp until this past Friday then went with a family to their lake home. Our urgent care is closed so we can t take him in. Any ideas??
Jock itch is the commonest cause of rashes in the groin due to poor hygiene in patients who are not sexually active. He can apply Hydrocortisone cream after washing & drying the affected area.
Keep the affected clean & dry to avoid fungal growth. A course of fluconazole is effective. Take medicines only after getting physically examined by a doctor.
Contact dermatitis, genital warts, genital herpes, syphilis can be the factors causing rashes or blisters in sexually active people having multiple sexual partners.
If your son is sexually active your doctor will suggest to get STD tests done to stay on the safer side & to rule out STI.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
