Suggest Remedies For Breathlessness After A Tracheotomy Tube Insertion

I have a tracheotomy tube and the inner cannula is out because I couldn t breathe with it in. Now my tube itself is blocked and I ve tried to suction myself and it s not working. It s hard to breathe and every little thing I do is getting me winded and breathing heavy. I m very dizzy and I can t seem to clear the secretions.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about having tracheostomy tube in place but there is difficulty in breathing as the inner tube was blocked, removal of the inner tube has not helped, feeling dizzy.
your history indicates that there is blockage due to retained secretion that could not be suctioned by you.
The secretions may be tenacious and stuck to the mucosa.
You need instillation of sodabicab locally into the tracheal and brocheal treeto loosen the mucus which can then be expelled out by forceful coughing or suctioned out.
Take Oxygen as you may be feeling dizzy due to low oxygen saturation.
Rush to ER or nearest hospital if necessary.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
