Suggest Remedies For Burning Sensation In The Throat And Esophagus

I have severe acid reflux symptoms for two weeks now. All started with a cold/cough 3 weeks ago and I ve been through a round of Zithromax followed by Biaxin. I m only 4 days into Biaxin and the burning in my throat, dry cough, wheezing is bad. 1) is it ok to stop taking Biaxin because I believe the infection is gone at this point...because I feel otherwise fine and am coughing up clear phlegm. 2) what are some soothing things I can do for the burning in my throat and esophogus? I started taking a day ago 40mg daily of Pantoprazole to help combat the reflux. Thank you for your advice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that you should not continue antibiotics. Gargling with betadine gargle in lukewarm water, cough lozenges, Tab Pantop, Diegene syrup, more intake of fibres in meals, psyllium husk at bedtime etc. These measures would definitely help you to combat your illness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
