General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Very likely the process you are explaining is due to atherosclerosis. This consists of plaques of calcium and fat that block the vessels and if this happens in the heart vessels, ischemic heart disease may happen.

To help with this, she needs to take medications that lower the lipids. Atorvastatin for instance and also aspirin daily. If she has diabetes or hypertension she will need good control of these as well. She should not smoke or drink alcohol as these may contribute to worsening these plaques.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
