Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
If I were your doctor, after an initial clinical assessment of your abdomen, I would advise you for an
ultrasound of the abdomen with special reference to the
pancreas to rule out inflammation in it which could give rise to such discomfort under the left
rib cage. Also a routine CBC, a serum amylase and lipase would be helpful. In addition I would also advise you to avoid eating from outside to prevent any intestinal infection creeping in from outside unhygienic-ally prepared food. Avoidance of alcoholic beverages and smoking also top in your case if you do. A serum HCG might be indicated to rule out a
pregnancy before going for an ultrasound. Till then you could go for an anti spasmodic and a
proton pump inhibitor drug for a symptomatic relief.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
