Suggest Remedies For Cough With Mucus And Nasal Congestion

Hello, I have lot of cough and fever with body aches. I went to see a doctor, she told me that it is upper resp infection and prescribed Z-pack(Azthromycin) 5 day course. I still have cough and now it is coming with mucus and my nose is all blocked up sometimes during the night.. what to do

Hi,

Noted the history of nasal blockage particularly at night, saw a Doctor who prescribed Azithromycin saying that you have upper respiratory tract infection but the coughing continued with mucus had fever and body ache. Since you have not mentioned about the anti-tussive meaning to suppress cough and anti-inflammatory medicines to have symptomatic and supportive treatment.

Hence I would advise you the following:
- Continue Azithromycin
- Take decongestant nasal drops followed by plain water steam inhalation
- Take an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen if it suits you
- You can take cough syrup to suppress the cough
- Take rest and have maintained room temperature.
Rest of the treatment as per the advise of your doctor after clinical evaluation and investigations of blood and so on.
