Suggest Remedies For Difficulty In Conceiving While Having Irregular Periods

Hi there, my partner and i are trying for a baby but i havent had my period for a month or so and im not pregnant now, i was wondering if its possible.. am i able to take the pill the start a period for my body to then release an egg? Or do i just have to wait till my body does its thing and wait till i get a period? Thank you -Ayla-

Hi Ayla,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
There will be difficulty in conceiving when you have irregular periods due to following reasons:
1. Ovulation does not happen at proper time.
2. Even if the egg gets fertilized by chance, there could be problems with implantation as the uterine lining (endometrium) might not have been prepared for it.
The common cause for such irregular menstruation is hormonal imbalance caused due to poly cystic ovarian disease (PCOD) or due to alteration in functioning of thyroid gland.
This needs to be evaluated by means of ultrasound scan of the abdomen and certain hormone assay in blood.
Kindly consult Gynecologist for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
