Suggest Remedies For Difficulty In Taking Full Breath, Bloating With Mild IBS

Any help would be appreciated!! My symptoms: Can t take a full breath. Stomach feels tight on inhalation. Left side rib feels enlarged. Abdominal bloating. Some reflux (controlled with lansoprazole). Urge to urinate, but little comes out. When I finish urinating it feels like there s still some left but struggle to get it out. Some ibs - only when nervous/anxious. I m a male, 27 non drinker, social smoker and fairly active. the biggest concern is the inability to inhale fully. When I go for a run I can t catch my breath without stopping. Even after a minute! Symptoms have been ongoing for 18 months now..

Hi,

Noted the history of breathless for 18 months in a 27 year old, social smoker, non-drinker, bloating of abdomen on stress, IBS, frequency of urination and feels like bladder is not emptied.
All these symptoms may be related to your stress and the aftereffects of it.
You need a proper clinical evaluation and examination bor every symptom, investigations accordingly.
For short of breath you need pulmonary function test, X-ray chest and Cardiac evaluation. Once a proper diagnosis is made which is most likely asthma then proper management will take care of this, take an opinion of a Pulmonologist if needed.
Lansoprazole helps to reduce acid in stomach thus helping you GERD, the bloating and gases can be due to stress induced IBS hence control of stress is very important factor.
Also get Upper GI Endoscopy, stool and blood tests for abdominal symptoms and get treated accordingly.
Change of lifestyle helps a lot.
Ultrasonography of whole abdomen, particularly for Genitourinary system and evaluation by a an Urologist will help for the urinary system and guide for proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
