I m a 58 yo female. I have a high white blood cell count, low temperature, low blood pressure. In the last 2 years I ve had 3 knee replacements and a triple arthrodesis due to arthritis. I am obese and have recently quit smoking. My primary care Dr. does not seem as worried as I d like him to be? Should I be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is nice to know that you have quit smoking. Maintain weight so that your BMI is low. To elevate BP, stay well hydrated; take soups, ORS, juice. Avoid high carbohydrate food & take small meals 3-4 times a day.

Elevated WBC may be indicative of some developing bone marrow disease. High WBC is also seen in people who are stressed up physically & emotionally or are suffering from some kind of anxiety.

Stay away from stress & anxiety. You should get physically examined get tests done to rule out any developing bone marrow pathology.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
