Suggest Remedies For Fever When Diagnosed With Tonsillitis

Husband was diagnosed with tonsillitis, has fluid behind his ears and a horrific cough. He has been on 1500 mg of nations a since Saturday and an antihistamine that has Tylenol in it .... he is still running a low-grade fever .... shouldn t fever be gone by now?

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have fever when diagnosed with tonsillitis . The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as sore throat along with tonsillitis . This can occur due to bacterial as well as viral infection . Fever is also symptoms of infection. It seems to me that in your case the infection in probably viral and infection has already spread to ear through eustachian tube . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper checkup . Doctor may order certain test to confirm the diagnosis like virus culture test . Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug like acyclovir along with anti histamine . Doctor may also recommend tonsillectomy if tonsil will interfere with normal functioning of pharynx or occur very frequently .
