Suggest Remedies For Food Stuck In Throat

I started coughing while eating peanuts. Now it feels light a piece of peanut is stuck in my throat. I tried several things to get it out: coughing, eating a cracker, chewing ice and drinking hot water but the piece is still in my throat. What should I do now?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of peanut struck in throat which seems to act as foreign body and may seat at a position which can cause obstruction.

I would suggest you to visit immediately Gastroenterologist as this is an alarming condition and get fiberoptic scan done. Doctor may perform small fibro optic procedure and will remove this piece which is struck in your throat. Drink plenty of water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
