Suggest Remedies For Itching And Swelling In The Toes
My two middle toes have started itching and one of the toes is swollen on the end ( last joint or tip of the middle toe). this started last night after unusual activity as I was just getting home from work. I did think my boots and sock combination this day made a tight fit for the toes. I took off the sock and boot and applied Neosporin as the swelling of the middle toe might be an infection? It was all ok this morning but this evening it is itchy again. did not wear the same boots and had no discomfort until I sat down to eat. I did not eat the same thing this evening as I did yesterday but did drink aq glass of wine both nights.
You are right that you may have an infection there, and it would be reasonable to use Neosporin to see if that helps. If it doesn't, I would also consider a fungal infection, and would suggest using a topical antifungal like clotrimazole to see if that helps the itching and swelling.
The other possibility would be atopic dermatitis or an eczema-like skin condition, for which you could treat with hydrocortisone cream. But I think a fungal infection is more likely and would recommend treating for that first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Aaron Branch,
