Suggest Remedies For Leg Cramps And Muscle Spasms After Taking Zantac

I have taken prolosec for quite a bit. my doctor suggested switching to zantac for a few months as I have been having leg cramping and muscle spasms to see if it will help. I also heard that prolosec will take calcium out of your bones, so long term usage I need to be checked.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, Zantac is not associated with any alteration in calcium homeostasis or leg cramps.
* The proton pump inhibitors due pause issue for the same and has to be consumed for an only desired period of prescription only to avoid further issues with metabolism.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
