General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, toddler of 10 months can have diarrhea from viral infection of gut or lactose preparation induced GI flora upset causing loose motions.

If the diarrhea has recently started after change of any particular formula of milk, then lactose susceptibility is prime issue and in other case, viral infection is priority.

At present, focus on plenty of liquids including boiled water, lemon juice, rice water and oral rehydration salt to avoid dehydration and consult his pediatrician for need of supportive supplements as zinc and probiotics for faster recovery.

Antibiotics usually do not play major role in this case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
