Suggest Remedies For Pain Behind The Eyes

My wife is complaining of a pain that begins behind her right eye and travels behind it down to he upper lip. She is 75 years old. Have given her two aspirin. She refuses to go to the hospital...says it will go away. Helps when she closes her eye.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your wife had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to cluster headache but local eye examination may be needed to rule out local pathology.

Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Raised intraocular pressure or glaucoma should be ruled out. Any signs of local soft tissue inflammation should also be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
