Suggest Remedies For Painful Swelling Of The Jaw, Not Relieved By Ibuprofen
Hi, I've been having a dull pain and swelling on the left side of my jaw for a few days now. I took Ibuprofen for the swelling, but it hasn't helped. I do have TMJ problems, but the pain is never like this and there is never any swelling. Not sure what this could be.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain dull pain on the left side of jaw along with swelling can be due to causes like dental infection or tooth infection, Pericoronitis, infection in salivary gland, cellulitis etc.. TMJ can be a potent cause for it.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like full mouth x ray or MRI scan can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.. As of now you can take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen. You can do cool compresses over the swelling.. Take a soft diet.. Avoid excessive mouth opening..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
