Suggest Remedies For Peripheral Neuropathy Along With Shocking Sensation In Body

I have peripheral neuropathy and after a kidney infection several weeks ago, it has rapidly progressed from being only in my legs, feet and hands, to now being in my arms past my elbows and all the way from my feet to my upper chest. My legs are VERY weak and I have had to resort to using a walker for stability, and then still nearly falling and having a very poor sense of balance. The neuropathy is also now associated with extreme pain in both legs with feelings of lightning bolts shooting throughout my entire body. I am also being treated for a fatty liver/cirrhosis.

Hi,

This indicates peripheral neuropathy which is a result of damage to your peripheral nerves, often causes weakness, numbness, and pain, usually in your hands and feet.

It can also affect other areas of your body. The treatment actually depends on the right cause.

Most common causes are diabetes, alcoholism, inherited disorders or trauma and medications however, many other causes may be seen so tests are required to identify the right one.

Till that you can do some general remedies: Avoid factors that may cause nerve damage, including repetitive motions, cramped positions, exposure to toxic chemicals, smoking and overindulging in alcohol. Also take vitamin d supplemets and regulate blood sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
