Suggest Remedies For Persistent Pain Around The Left Shoulder Blade And Sternum Areas
Hi, I ve been having pain around my left shoulder blade and sternum areas for about 8 months now. The pain is most noticeable in the early hours of the morning around 3 - 4 am. I went to a doc back in July and they said it was probably Costa Chondritis. The pain responds well to Reishi, a mushroom supplement that has anti-inflammatory properties. But when I stop drinking Reishi tea at night, the pain is back. It seems to get worse when I eat certain types of food (I am diagnosed with GERD, and am taking 40mg pantoprazole each day for the past many years). Any ideas?
It could be a rotator cuff injury. As a first line management you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. The sternum pain might be due to gastritis and gerd. Avoid spicy foods. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain,
