Hello,

I think something went wrong with this hematoma behind the knee after the knee replacement procedure. This fluid built up below your knee is common after surgery, even a few months later (up to six months).

We usually recommend using ice packs the first days especially when there is swelling. Then, can alternate with heat pads.
Be careful with movements of your knee as a bad movement will cause further damages.

You should keep regular follow-ups with your orthopedic specialist. He/she will help you determine the problems and give appropriate advice.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
