Suggest Remedies For Persistent Soreness In Throat
I ve woke up 4 days ago with an extremely sore throat.. I immediately assumed it was strep throat and started taking amoxicillin.. I decided to initially take a double dose and have continued taking two a day.. On the night of day 4 I felt like I wasn t able to blow my nose but could hear and feel the phlegm and mucus built up in my sinsuses and throat..after spitting up bloody mucus several times, I spit up what appeared to be tissue.. Although taking antibiotics, my symptoms haven t improved much.. I am now concerned that the antibiotics aren t strong enough and I possibly have more than strep. The tissue I spit up was about the size of a peanut and I instantly felt a little relief to my sore throat.. Should I have any concerns or need to see a doctor?
You might have developed sinusitis secondary to strep throat. You can do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief. Drink plenty of water to clear the mucus.
Steam inhalation will help to open up the clogged sinuses and clear mucus as well. If symptoms persist, antibiotics may have to change to Amoxiclav or Levoflox after consulting a physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
