I ve been having some throat pain for 3 weeks or more now. Hurts to swallow but I m able to eat and drink ok. I felt like I was getting better then I sneezed this evening now the pain is back and feels like the back of my tongue is tingling. Thought I had GERD been taking Prilosec seems to relieve the tightness I was feeling in my neck. I think something else is wrong but don t know what? Ibuprofen doesn t seem to help.

Suggest Remedies For Persistent Throat Pain
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Based on your description it appears that you could be having inflammation of the pharynx. Kindly do the following to overcome it. 1. Do salt water gargling with warm water twice daily. 2. Take steam inhalation twice daily to liquify mucous and its easy drainage. 3. Take Tablet. Ibuprofen with Paracetamol twice daily after food. 4. Take decongestant medications containing Ambroxol and chlorpheneramine maleate with menthol when necessary. 5. Use medicated lozanges to soothen the throat. 6. Eat soft diet and do not consume cold items like cool drinks or ice-creams. Gradually, your symptoms should subside and be back to normal. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Ashakiran S
