General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Blood in stool commonly occurs due to fissures or hemorrhoids. But it can also occur because of colitis, ulcer, IBS, diverticulitis, cancer. Get physically examined & detected. Your treatment will depend upon the pathology causing rectal bleeding. It will be treated with medications, antibiotics or surgery depending upon the severity of the disease.

In the meantime, take sitz bath 2-3 times a day. Drink plenty of water, avoid constipation. Take fiber in your diet along with fruits & berries.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
