Suggest Remedies For Recurring Fever And Low Appetite In A Toddler

My son is 13months old, he has been having fever at night and early morning ranging between 100 to 103.5F, whenever I give P125 the temp reduces to normal, no ear infection or throat infection, has reduced appetite only drinks milk for the last 5days, Dr suggested to give Zifi Antibiotic (Cefixime Oral suspension 50mg/5ml), so we have given this twice daily last 3days, fever still comes in night and morning, otherwise he is playing and active during day, when fever shoots up he is quite, he has had two canine teeth coming up, no other symptoms, please suggest

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son is having symptoms of recurring fever and low appetite which is because of teething and it could be due to viral infection.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit pediatrician once and get complete examination done. You should go for blood and sputum tests. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants. You should give antipyretics to your son for fever relief such as calpol, paracetamol. Give steam inhalation to child. Use mist humidifiers in room. If fever increases do tepid sponging as well with cold water.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
