Suggest Remedies For Recurring Flare Ups Of GERD

I know that I have GERD or GORD, as it is variously known. I have had a barium swallow test 10 years ago that showed my sphincter was broken and what I d swallowed came straight back up when I lay down. The symptoms have come and gone. But recently, I ve woken up for weeks with a burnt feeling in my throat. I also have a swollen gland in the neck on my right side. Intermittently, my jaw on that side also has a dull ache. I am frightened, wondering if there have been cell changes in my throat and I have cancer of the jaw....or am I jumping the gun here. I am taking chewable over-the-counter anti-reflux tablets; trying to eat smaller meals earlier in the evening and avoiding alcohol and coffee. But wondering if this is too little, too late.
