im having severe mid back spasms---i ve had them for a few yrs but this winter is particularly bad---i sit at a desk for a living---i use to be very active/running/lifting----everytime i try to do light exercises/lifting light weights/cardio----it seems to make them worse----I even had one week that i was flat on the couch taking muscle relaxers and motrin----i ve tried chiropractic and message therapy----what can be my next step? neurologist/orthopedic? i do not have a history of herniated discs----i did fall off a horse when i was young and hurt my back but nothing serious
An orthopedic doctor would be the best option. He or she would be able to assess the muscles and bones to see if there is a specific cause for your discomfort and treat accordingly.
A neurologist would mainly deal with neurological disorders- conditions affecting nerve function or structure.
I hope this helps
