Suggest Remedies For Recurring Shortness Of Breath In An Underweight, Old Lady

Hello doctor. My 79 year old mother who weighs only 25 kgs has shortness of breath every other day. A pulmonologist has recommended that we give her a mix of Levolin (0.63 mg) and Budecort (0.5 mg) in a nebulizer twice a day. Is that not too much for her, considering her weight?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is highly unlikely to get an overdose of nebulized drugs as they are generally affecting the lungs and do not get high concentrations in blood. The weight of the patient is very unlikely to affect their dose and risk for overdose.
I would recommend you to just take the medication as the doctor has already prescribed as shortness of breath can be dangerous and needs to be treated promptly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
