Suggest Remedies For Scratch Marks On The Skin By A Dog

Hi Doctor, Just now I was chased by a dog and he tried to bite me. But I am not sure whether he was able to do it or not. But I felt that something touched me. There is no sign of biting. But I could see some press marks on my skin. Could you please suggest me, what should I do as I am really scared?

Hi,

Dermatologic conditions are difficult to judge without seeing them. the real question is whether there is infection, allergy or just a scratch. Suturing won't be an option much beyond 24 hrs because healing would have precluded what the suture can accomplish. Infection needs treatment. An inflammatory reaction can occur due to germs or to allergy to dog. A combination antibiotic with steroids would probably work either way. And sometimes it needs stronger oral medicine for infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
