Suggest Remedies For Severe Arm Pain After Removal Of Infusion

I am being treated for Lymes disease via iv infusions. They are using iv port in my arm. 2 days ago they took the first port out (used one in right arm for four days) clinic nurse took that one out and put new one in left arm. Later that day it got hurting. It was bleeding around it ans inside that little tube. I called our local hospital since by this time my clinic was closed. They said that was not uncommon. Clinic left it in the next day ( put piece of cotton under tube part....was still uncomfortable. Today after my infusion they took it out. It really hurts now , can hardly bend arm. It is 79 degrees outside and im freexing nd I am running a fever 99.1

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
It could be due to conditions like thrombophlebitis.
If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
