Suggest Remedies For Severe Back Pain While On Metformin
hi...I started taking Metforman 3 days ago..I awoke from a sound sleep with terrible pains in the middle of my back, on the right side...I am not finding a comfortable place..plus I have indigestion...like burping..Is this a normal side effect of Metforman?

Metformin initially causes an upset stomach that an adverse effect which goes away with regular intake of the medicine as per doctor’s advice. Thats what happening with you regarding upset stomach.
It does not cause back pain so the pain is related to some other cause. It can be due to muscle spasm or uncomfortable sleeping posture as you said you woke up with the pain.
It takes a few days to recover from the pain if its due to muscle spasm.
Muscle relaxants do help in pain relief, you can take the medicines with your doctor’s advice as the appropriate dose is important and yes you can take pain medicines while on metformin as per your doctor’s guidance.
