Suggest Remedies For Severe Itching In The Groin Area

I am a 65 year old male in relatively good health. I have not been sexually active in 2.5 years or so. It s very hot and humid here in Michigan right now. I have pretty extensive itching and in some cases painful itching where I scratched too much, in my groin area. It seems to help to not wear clothes and keep a wet, cool cloth on the area. What do you think I can do about this? (by the way, I didn t even know this service was available on line and I think it s a wonderful thing that it is)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would advise you to use ketoconazole cream locally in the groin area twice a day for 7-10 days. Try to avoid chemicals there (scented detergents or deodorants or even soap). You should use cotton underwear.
If you notice no improvement with the treatment you will need to have a visit with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
