Suggest Remedies For Severe Pain In Chest After An Injury

Hi,
I have been hit quite hard on the left side of my chest about 5 days ago now. It hurts when I make any sudden movements that stretch this area, and I can't sleep as the pain wakes me up if I lay on it. I have yet to go to the doctor, and have been using 'Ibuleve' - a pain killing gel, but this only temporarily helps. I'm not sure as to how to proceed.
