Suggest Remedies For Severe Radiating Pain In Spine And Ribs

Severe pain. Possible radiating from spine... My ribs; rt sided have hurt: level 10 for over 3 weeks and started suddenly. I have a terrible spine. DDD and arthritic. Triple spinal fusion this past March ALIF. Cervical fusion C6, 2011 ACDF. Double lamenectomy lumbar 2000. I am now 42, history started at age 15-16... Anyway, THIS PAIN is unbearable, excruciating.. I am waiting to see my surgeon who s on vacation, likely to await an MRI date, then to wait another follow up date. Is this extreme rib pain and swelling Thoracic T10??? And what can I do for relief???? Ice and heat don t help/hurt. I have strong drugs..not touching it. I am growing desperate. I can t sit up. I can t lay on my sides. I can t do any chores. I lay on my back and yell out in agony.... Michelle F Beverly MA

Hi,

You need rest (lie flat on a hard surface), icepack or fomentation over the counter pain & antiinflammatory injectables with needful antibiotic & vitamin B12 supplement till the acute inflammation with infection is controlled to reduce & settle pain till your surgeon comes. Please consult your family physician/another orthopedic surgeon for immediate help.
