Suggest Remedies For Soreness In The Ankle While Walking

Hi I hurt my foot/ankle approx 5 months ago. It wasn t necessarily injured I just woke up the next morning and it was extremely sore to put pressure on it. This lasted a good few weeks and then I went back to running and it just became sorer and sorer the more I used it. I went to the doctors about 10 weeks after the injury and they sent me to the hospital for the X-ray but it came back clear. So since then I ve been treating it as a bad sprain but the more I use it the worse it gets. It s especially worse as I keep on going over on both my ankles, they sort of just give in. When it s not sore it s more of a niggle situated below the bone on the outside of my ankle that sits out a bit. Its especially sore when I m putting pressure on it like walking up the stairs or leaning on one leg. So I was at training tonight and my ankle gave way again and it was automatically extremely sore and couldn t walk on it. By about half an hour it was fine and I could walk fairly normally again. It shows no signs of visible injury, no swelling no bruising, no heat, in fact I have just taken my shoes off and my left foot is freezing!! Just wondering if i went to the doctors what they would do?

Hi,

The best treatment is RICE: rest, ice, compression and elevation. Take anti-inflammatory drugs to ease the pain and swelling. Stretches and special exercises can prevent future problems.
