Suggest Remedies For Swelling And Bruising Of Shin After An Injury

Hey this past Thursday I accidently hit myself in the shin with a sledgehammer. Nothing that bad at first just what you would normally expect from such a blow, walked fine the rest of the day. Saturday morning my ankle was swollen and a little bruised this morning the top of my foot began to swell and turning light blue. Do you think keeping it elevated and iced down would be a good treatment? It does not hurt to walk on my leg or my ankle.
