Suggest Remedies For Swelling Behind The Left Knee

I am a 76 year old female...in generally good health. But now I have a swelling behind my left knee that is annoying. Not painful, but I don t know how to reduce the swelling there. My e-mail address is: YYYY@YYYY I would appreciate your comments....

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

Let me recapitalize your case:
- 76 year old female
- generally good health
- swelling behind left knee, not painful

The non painful swelling behind your left knew if soft, could be due to bursitis; while injury from a recent trauma or osteophytes are also to consider.

If not painful, can apply alternating warm and cold compresses. If no improvement, further X-ray of the knee is recommended to rule out osteophytes.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to consult with an orthopedic surgeon and run x-ray of the knee to determine the right cause for proper treatment.
