Suggest Remedies For Swelling In Face Due Aero Sinusitis
home treatment for aerosinusitis? got off plane in Philadelphia from New Orleans 3 days ago. went to a dentist, had an xray at the dentist, there is no abcess, was prescribed 2 antibiotics anyway and was told my maxillary sinus cavity may be inflamed and a root canal I had years ago was very close to it and the pressure from the plane may be causing this. Help, it's still swollen, painful (to the point of crying) and advil isn't even helping and it's my face. Any suggestions? I have to go to my PCP which entails driving 45 minutes toward center city and get a referral for an ENT due to my weird insurance. I don't think I can make it that long driving in a car.

hello, thanks for consulting at hcm.Barotrauma located in the maxillary, ethmoidal, or sphenoid sinuses --appears when the ostia are blocked..the majority of cases are probably caused by an acute upper respiratory tract infection. The magnitude of the pressure difference needed to produce a barotrauma--individual variation and is related to the size of the sinus ostium and the rate of ambient pressure change. Due to this, even commercial flying may produce severe cases of aero sinusitis, usually seen in high performance aircraft with lower pressurized cabins.Mild cases- treated by topical decongestants and painkillers. In resistant cases- functional endoscopic sinus surgery is indicated in order to re-establish drainage and ventilation of the sinuses. Kindly consult a good ent specialist for a check up and treatment..hope it helps,,take care.
