I was hit on the lower left side of my jaw and there is a small bruise and on the right side my ear to my throat i fell like there ia air. I am able to move my lower jaw left to right but closing my jaw my left side of my teeth feel like they are not touching, but they are. I think swelling on there right side. what can i do about the swelling and do I have to the ER for a check up.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to traumatic injury there is soft tissue injury and there seems to be a possibility that there has been dislocation of lower jaw at the site of jaw joint.. This is leading to difficulty in occluding the teeth and swelling is due to soft tissue inflammation.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and he can take a full mouth x ray known as Orthopantomogram [OPG] to rule out for possible jaw dislocation and if it is found reduction manually or surgically will be planned.. For swelling do cool compresses over the swelling.. Take Motrin for reducing inflammation and pain.. Take a soft diet..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
