Suggest Remedies For Swelling In The Left Ankle

Good Morning, My left ankle is swollen. I have elevated my leg last night, the swelling went down and while walking to work, it has swelled up again. I have soaked my foot in warm water with epson salt and later last night, I placed an ice pack on it. Is the swelling due to the warm weather or could it be something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Swelling can be due to minor trauma or elevated uric acid level. Better to check the uric acid level in blood. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen and apply ankle binder. Raising the foot while sleeping and sitting also should be done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nishad BN, General & Family Physician
