Suggest Remedies For Swollen Ankles Post Multiple Ankle Surgeries
Hello I have a issue that I hope you can help me with. I had a motorcycle accident and crushed my feet and ankles I have had several surgery s and I need some help. I had a series of operations on my feet. Thew Orthopedic Dr that did the first round of surgery s sent me to an foot and ankle Doctor. OK I had a right ankle fusion 7/28/15, that surgery did not go to good, and my doctor had to do another surgery. It is a failed right ankle fusion. So on 7/28/16 I had another right ankle fusion, all was going good had walking air cast boot, knee walker cane etc etc. My doctor did tell me that my right ankle will never be normal again, OK such as life. He released me on 6/14/16 and told me that I can start walking and no more air cast boot. well all of a sudden my ankle has swelled up a lot and and it is tender to the touch. It is hot and swollen big time. Can you please help me. Robert

Hello,
Since you have your ankle swollen & inflamed all of a sudden you are suggested to visit your surgeon for a follow up clinical examination.
In the meantime, you can take Combiflam-400 (one sos when required) or any other NSAIDS for relief from pain & inflammation.
Keep your foot at rest, do not strain unnecessarily. If diabetic keeps your blood glucose levels under control at all cost for better healing. Control your salt intake & addictions if any.
Post-surgery the medical conditions that may cause such symptoms are implant breakage, ankle osteoarthritis, deep infection, nerve damage, bone misalignment, arthrofibrosis or malunion, etc.
Get X-ray done, CT & MRI if required to detect the cause of inflammation & pain. Get treated at the earliest.
You may be treated with medications or surgery if there is a major complication.
