Suggest Remedy For A Rope Like Cord Appearing In The Armpit

After a lymph node excision (benign) a ropelike cord in my armpit is so tight it sticks out of my armpit and raising my arm overhead is hindered. I can feel the pull all the way to my wrist when I raise my arm over my head. What is this? Should I try to stretch it or lay off?
