Suggest Remedy For Back And Shoulder Pain After Hip Replacement Surgery
I had a hole hip replacement five weeks ago Tuesday and my Hebaglobin was low. In hospital and a little after coming out of hospital I was weak and when I stood up felt light headed but it subsided after a couple of weeks. But this week I have been feeling that way again with shoulder and back pain. Is this normal recovery? some days I m fine then I could be standing doing something and then like a wave it comes over me and I feel the need to sit before I pass out and take deep breathe until it passes. I just feel it could be hindering my recovery.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
I feel your dizziness is due to your weakness. Low haemoglobin or some cardiac element which leads to short breaths. Please consult a hematologist and then a cardiologist to sort out the problem. Back ache can be due to awkward position in moving the replaced hip (while adjusting post operatively) or it can be excessive stress on lumber spine while moving with new joint to walk. Please consult your operating surgeon for this.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
